Mimetic Films is a container for the documentary, narrative, and audio works of Kyle Baker and Colin Rosemont.

We’re drawn to the histories, ecologies, and curiosities of our worlds, and to film not only as a means of representing them but as a vehicle to intervene on their behalf. From stories of music and labor to social movements and the more-than-human world, our approach to filmmaking is energized by complex relationships and the uncertain lines between the real and the really made up. We love working with good people to bring a shared vision to life.

Our work has screened internationally at IDFA, Mammoth Lakes Film, Smithsonian Mother Tongue, Royal Anthropological Institute, SF DocFest, BC Environmental, San Diego International, FilmFort, Santa Barbara International, Durango Independent, Ashland Independent, Red Nation, and the Society for Visual Anthropology film festivals. Our films have been supported by the California Humanities Documentary Production Grant and the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Colin is based in Los Angeles and is currently a Directing Fellow at the American Film Institute, Class of 2025. Kyle is a freelance editor and filmmaker based in Berkeley, CA.
